A regional seminar for public consultation of the draft of the National Environment Strategy for Republic of Moldova. This is for the time period 2012-2022 and was held Wednesday, July 27 this year, in the hotel "Balti" in Balti.

In his speech at the seminar, Director of Northern Regional Development Agency (RDA North), Ion Bodrug, spoke about the importance of developing and implementing the National Environmental Strategy at national as well as the local level. RDA North Director stressed the need for productive collaboration between the central authorities of industry with local authorities. Only in this way, according to Ion Bodrug, will it be possible to carry out all provisions of that strategy. "We welcome this initiative of the for public consultation of the National Environment Strategy for the period 2012-2022. What is proposed is a very well established in terms of priorities and rules of the European Union," said the Director of RDA North.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environment, presidents and vice presidents of the districts in the northern region of the country, mayors, representatives of local health care authorities and representatives of associations of the territory.

The seminar aimed at discussing the draft strategy structure, the objectives of promoting sustainable development and green growth and to discuss the integration of environmental requirements in the country's social and economic development at national and local level. The seminar also aimed at setting goals and indicators in the environmental sector , determining the role of local government and local partners, public associations, in developing, promoting and implementing the strategy. Also discussed were local environmental priorities, actions necessary to attract funds, etc.

The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Environment in partnership with the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, Directorate General of Regional Development and Environment National Center.
