Project "Connecting the Free Economic Zone ”˜Balti”™ to municipal utilities: water, sewerage, electricity and access roads" was launched

Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MRDC) and the Northern Regional Development (Northern RDA) together with the Mayor's office of the Municipality of Balti today, June 29, 2011, launched the regional development projects "Connecting the Free Economic Zone 'Balti' to municipal utilities: Water, sanitation , Electricity and Access Roads." The launch took place on territory of the Free Enterprise Zone in "Balti".
This project is one of seven projects in the Northern Region Development Fund resources approved for funding from the National Regional Development (NFRD) in 2011.


In his greeting, RDA North Director, Ion Bodrug, referred to the importance of the project launched within the Free Enterprise Zone "Balti". "Finally, we can say that today we launched this project that was approved by a medical service in 2010, with funding from sources NFRD".

In turn, Victor Caun, chief deputy of the Relations Department of Regional Development Institutions (RDRDI) at MRDC, said the project launched a particular significance since the results of its implementation will benefit about 7000 workers.

"The event today is very important for the Municipality of Balti. We understand that the Free Economic Zone for the municipality of Balti opens the Economic and Social modernization perspectiveof the Northern part of the country. This version allows us to attract investments for the municipality of Balti which will create new jobs, which is necessary for the inhabitants of Balti and the people from the Northern part of the country. It is understood that the budget possibilities are limited for Balti. The emergence of this project was made possible by cooperation of three parts: the authority of local publications, FEZ "Balti" and the MRDC", said Vice Marina Coval.

In his speech, administrator of the FEZ "Balti", Marin Ciobanu, stated that there is a financial coverage for this project and it is important that the parties involved work on this project as a team, but not after some principles of affiliation. "We aim to attract as much investment to increase economic management of the region and the welfare of every inhabitant of the area. I am very glad that we are launching the first project, but I wish that it is not the last project", said Marin Ciobanu.

The applicant of the project is the RDA North and the City Hall of Balti. The overall objective is to provide infrastructure to connect FEZ "Balti" to all utilities: water, sewerage, electricity and access roads with a total amount of 16,575,515 lei, of which 13,621,660 lei is from the National Regional Development Fund, which is 86% of the total project. The duration of the implemention of the project is 6 months. Co-financers of the project are the city of Balti (1,363,734 lei), ICS 'Automotive Draxlmaier "SRL (1,550,121 lei) and FEZ "Balti" (40,000 lei). 

RDA North, located in Balti, is a non-commercial publications institution with financial autonomy under the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MDRC) of the Republic of Moldova with the Central RDA and the Southern RDA, the Northrn RDA regional development working since April 2010.

FEZ "Balti" was set up in record time for Moldova and promises to attract the largest investments. Thus, the FEZ "Balti" already has five operatoring residents. The largest of these is Draxlmaier company, which has over 2,000 employees and manufactures various cables for German automotive giant BMW. According to the principal administrator of the FEZ "Balti" Marin Ciobanu, FEZ Balti in Moldova is only working at home.
