Members of the National Coordination Council for Regional Development (NCCRD) approved on Monday, December 19th, during a meeting, the list of projects tendered to receive financial support from the National Fund for Regional Development (NFRD) during the next four years.
According to the assessment made by the inter-ministerial commission, the projects that will be financially supported have a regional impact, ensure the sustainability of projects, including the way of managing the post-implementation goods and fit the priorities and objectives of the project selection process.
"For the period 2017-2020, there are planned allocations from the state budget in amount of about 1 billion lei to NFRD. In this context, taking into account the benefits for localities, the projects have been evaluated in several stages: to see if they correspond to the objectives and priorities of the contest, if they have feasibility studies, updated technical projects, relevant technical solutions, including coherent economic and technical documentation", said Octavian Calmâc, Deputy, Minister of Economy, NCCRD President.
The main areas of intervention of the presented projects are linked to the regional and local road infrastructure, water supply and sanitation, solid waste management, business infrastructure and tourism attractiveness development, and energy efficiency of public buildings.
"321 project conceptual notes in worth about 7.8 billion lei were submitted at the first stage of the contest, representing the development needs of the localities received from the First and Second level LPAs (Local Public Administration). After several stages of evaluation, 52 projects, worth 1.3 billion lei, will receive financial support starting from the next year. The majority of the projects are related to water supply and sanitation. For the projects that will not be financed by NFRD, we will seek other funding sources, including negotiations with development partners", underlined Vasile Bâtca, Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, at the meeting of NCCRD.
According to the President of the Regional Council for the North Development Region, Ion Leucă, the contest was held in three stages, in the period March-November 2016, the stakeholders' participatory communication being provided during this time.
