Regional Development Project Launch: "Renovation of regional international road M14 through the city of Edinet "

Ministry of Regional Development and Construction in addition to then Northern Regional Development Agency together with the mayor of Edinet organized a ceremony on 30th May 2011. This ceremony was held to honor the launching of the the regional development project: "Renovation of regional international road M14 through the city of Edinet." 

The project launch concluded a partnership agreement that was created out of necessity to create support for effective project implementation. The main priority is the rehabilitation of physical infrastructure. The District Council of Edinet and the District Council of Briceni are working together on this project. The agreement was signed by the Director of RDA North, Ion Bodrug, also by the mayor of Edinet and Raion president of Edineț.

"I believe that after this project is finished many people will thank the District Council of Edinet and City Hall of Edinet, because they worked very hard on this project  which will have a large regional impact. In this sense, the success of the city and the district of Edinet are very important to the success of the entire northern region. In 11 months the renovated road will be completed and hopefully it will make Edinet a more attractive city and raion. Also the hope is businesses will see the improvements and be more likely to pay taxes in the district," said Director ADR North Ion Bodrug.

"This project is welcomed and timely, by virtue of being a long overdue. We have faced these poor roads every day and as a result they have caused accidents and complaints from pedestrians. In this context, I will mention that the project has the earned the respect of decision makers and Mayor Constantin Cojocaru. They gave their best and gave their full devotion to negotiate this project. As president of the district of Edinet I want to express my conviction and confidence that this project will be of a high caliber and it will become a model for all districts", said district chairman Edinet Mosora Galina.
In turn, the mayor of Edinet, Constantin Cojocaru, spoke about the importance of the project which was launched with the cooperation of the RDA North, the District Council of Edinet and District Council of Briceni.

Major activities of the project include renovating and upgrading 4.5 km of road and pavement. Another goal is improving road management efficiency in order to create optimal conditions for the movement of citizens on the street of downtown Edinet part of international route of Chisinau - Chernivtsi.

Results of the project will be: the renovation of 4.5 km of road on the international route, lawn with a vegetable consolidated, renovated side roads, installation of traffic signs, the installation of five imformative billboards (for pictures, reports on activities done etc.) to show details about project activities which will be regularly placed on the five boards. Also there will be four radio broadcasts and TV broadcasts on the importance of ensuring healthly security of the renovated road in addition to four materials in local and regional printed media.

Launching the project marks a successful event in the process of regional development, which will improve road traffic in the region. The main beneficiaries of the project will be over 20,000 inhabitants of the city of Edinet and the over 80,000 people in other parts of the district of Edinet as well as residents who travel on the International route Chisinau - Chernivtsi.

Please note that this project is one of the seven projects in Northern Region to be financed from sources approved by the National Fund for Regional Development (NFRD). In addition to the two projects funded by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ). The total amount of the project, covering all expenses from the NFRD exceeds 17.6 million lei. The project implementation period is 11 months.
