Press Conference on the topic of Regional Development, in Balti

Balti, 4 November 2013. The Association of Independent Press (AIP) held a press conference on the topic of regional development.

The press conference was attended by journalists from local media institutions and regional districts from the Northern Development Region, Northern Regional Development Agency Director (North RDA), Ion Bodrug, managers of regional development projects, and leaders of nongovernmental organizations that deal with questions on regional development. The discussions focused on different aspects of regional development as a key national priority.

North RDA Director, Ion Bodrug, who stressed the importance of such meetings with journalists, spoke about the role of North RDA in the region and the most important projects in progress. "The journalists are friends of regional development. We are used to having very friendly relations with the media", said the North RDA Director.

Participants at the press conference discussed the positive and negative aspects that have emerged in the last 2 years since the North RDA implemented regional development projects in the north of the country.

In discussions with journalists participated Sergiu Culibaba, project manager  of "Connecting FEZ Balti to municipal utilities: water, sewer, electricity, access roads" and "Supporting private sector development and investment attraction process in the Northern Region through the construction of water and sewerage section no. 3 of FEZ Balti and Vasile Patrasca, Project Manager of Service sector local road L-37 Lipcani-Bălăsinești-Corjeuți-Târnova".

The meeting with journalists was moderated by Petru Macovei, Executive Director of AIP. "I am sure that today's talks were very useful. I understand more about regional development. I encourage you to better document when you have issues on this subject. First, do not hesitate to contact the people who are directly involved in regional development anytime", said the Executive Director of AIP.

The event took place with the support of the project "Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova", the sources provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in partnership with the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction.
